1391 (Romsey) Squadron

We parade twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, between 7pm and 9:30pm. We are located on The Romsey School site. The Squadron consists of a mixture of boys and girls. We always welcome new cadets to the squadron.

History

1391 (Romsey) Squadron was one of the first ATC Squadrons formed during the creation of the Air Training Corps in February 1941. In later years the Squadron was regraded as a Detached Flight of nearby Squadrons, notably 1105 (Winchester) Squadron.

In the late 1980’s a surge of enthusiasm led to a large increase in cadets and staff, and finally on December 13, 1991, Romsey was again upgraded to full Squadron status, and has justified its status in competitions against other Squadrons within Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wing ever since.

The squadron was located within the grounds of The Romsey School, for over 30 years. After relentless campaigning the current purpose built Squadron Headquarters was built and officially opened in 1998.

In early 2024 the lease at Romsey School expired and we had to move out.    We relocated to new facilities at Montfort Hall in September and are now firmly established in the local community.
