Civilian Instructor Sam Richards
Mr Richards joined 1391(Romsey) Squadron in 2009 and during his time in the ATC has proved himself as a great all-round cadet. Appointed Cadet Warrant Officer in Spring 2014, he completed a Gliding Scholarship, earning his silver wings for flying solo. His love for flying continued out of cadets into his career as Sam is now a qualified helicopter pilot. Although working for Hampshire Fire and Rescue as an Control Room Operator he hopes to oneday fulfill his career ambition - behind the controls of a helicopter.
Reverend Terry Hinks - Squadron Padre
As chaplain Terry's main role is to give pastoral support to staff and cadets, irrespective of their religious beliefs. He leads padre's hour from time to time helping the cadets look at key values, beliefs and issues; he also provides some training in public speaking.
Terry is Minister of Abbey United Reformed Church in Romsey, a church that has strong links with the local RAF Association (which holds its standard within the church's sanctuary) and hosts the annual Battle of Britain Service. Terry has served as Minister of Romsey and Braishfield URCs since 1998 and is very active in the community, working closely with the other ministers and churches of the area.
