Community

The third Aim of the Air Training Corps defined in the Royal Warrant is:

To foster the 'spirit of adventure', and to 'develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship'.

For a squadron to achieve this the Civilian Committee has an important part to play since public funding is not available for the activities necessary to fulfil this aim. Consequently a committee can assist the uniformed staff by asking for cadets assistance at events such as:

  1. Marshalling charity fun runs
  2. Stewarding at community events such as agricultural shows, steam fairs and fetes
  3. Completing sponsored walks for charity
  4. Involving disadvantaged members of the community in outdoor activities
  5. Taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, where the volunteering section is highly relevant
  6. Assisting the Royal Air Force Association in raising money during 'Wings Appeal' week
  7. Fund-Raising events for squadron funds which is often to buy and a run a squadron owned minibus
  8. Helping the Royal British Legion with their Poppy Appeal
  9. Acting as ushers at charity concerts

If you would like the squadron's assistance with an event you are having, please contact squadron staff at 1391@aircadets.org
