Fieldcraft is the art of living and working in the 'field', it consists of several aspects including camp craft and navigation. This activity also has a large military aspect, and training is undertaken in camouflage and concealment as well as patrol skills and much more.
All training is provided by subject experts on the squadron and within the Wing, ensuring the highest level of training. Our location also allows for some practice with some hedgerows and tree lines in the surrounds of the school.
Throughout the year, cadets have the opportunity to use the skills they learned on squadron evenings, and in previous exercises, as we deploy to Salisbury Plain Training Area. As a military training area, it provides plenty of options in terrain and cover, as well as providing training in an unfamiliar setting for many of the cadets. There is also a chance there will be some regular or reserve personnel out training on the day, giving the cadets a chance to witness infantry training in the field or even spot some tanks from nearby Tidworth!
Cadets who have leadership potential can complete the ultimate course on offer to cadets, Junior Leaders which uses the infantry environment as a method of teaching and assessing leadership.
